Itinerary

Day 1

La Fortuna

Welcome to Costa Rica!

When you arrive at the airport, our driver will be waiting for you with a sign in his hand, and will take you to your first accommodation. If you arrive early in the morning and would like to check into your room early, we will be happy to arrange this for the corresponding additional charge of one night. The regular check-in time starts around 14:00. Juan Santamaría Airport (SJO) is located in Alajuela, in close proximity to the capital San José.

Note: The maximum waiting time is 2 hours after the scheduled arrival time. Drivers keep an eye on the arrival time and you will be picked up at the airport even in the event of delays, provided that this is compatible with the driver's subsequent transfers. In the case of slight delays, there may be an additional cost for exceeding the 2-hour waiting time, which must be paid directly to the driver. If the flight is diverted or the flight is delayed over an hour after the scheduled arrival time, the driver may not be able to wait, and a new transfer must be paid for.

Heading to La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano!

Travel time approx. 3 hours

The majestic Arenal Volcano awaits your arrival, its imposing volcanic silhouette standing tall against the landscape of the Northern region. From a distance, its presence is undeniable, though the giant often hides behind clouds. If you're fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of its full splendor, consider it a rare treat.

Surrounding the volcano are numerous natural wonders ready to be explored such as walks in the rainforest, cascades, zipline adventures, wildlife boat safaris, horseback rides or sloths sanctuaries.

How about hiking the base of the volcano and enjoying the relaxing hot springs of the area? This experience combines both meditative tranquility and exciting adventure, as you explore the rich flora and fauna of the region — an experience that can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages.Until 2010, the volcano showed regular activity, often releasing clouds of smoke and incandescent rocks. This phase of frequent eruptions began with a large explosion in 1968, which devastated an entire village. Since then, Arenal volcano has entered a period of calm, with only minimal activity.

Both the volcano and the nearby town of La Fortuna are popular destinations, offering a wide range of accommodations, activities, shops and dining options.

The English-speaking guide will bring you closer to the history and tell you many interesting details.

After the hike, continue your tour to the famous La Fortuna Waterfall, about 70 meters high, where you can swim in the cool pool of the waterfall, as long as the water level allows. You're sure to be hungry after these adventures, so you'll stop at a nearby restaurant before you're brought back to your accommodation.

Day 3

San Jose

Back to the Pulsating Heart of Costa Rica!

Travel time: approx. 3.30 hours

Unfortunately, your vacation is slowly coming to an end.

Your driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to your last accommodation. Due to traffic in the Central Valley, delays are common. You can take the advantage of the city to buy your last souvenirs before your departure.

The Central Valley is home to the majority of Costa Rica’s population and where you can find shopping malls, international companies, banks, etc.

However, for those seeking the authentic Costa Rica, the small side valleys with towns like Ciudad Colón offer a glimpse of local life. In the foothills of the active Poás Volcano, you’ll find coffee plantations and vast cattle ranches. Here, you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery with evergreen trees, bromeliads, mosses, and lichens.

The climate in the Central Valley is especially pleasant and mild, making it an ideal place to relax. From the mountain slopes, you’ll be treated to a unique view of the twinkling lights of the entire valley at night.
