When you arrive at the airport, our driver will be waiting for you with a sign in his hand, and will take you to your first accommodation. If you arrive early in the morning and would like to check into your room early, we will be happy to arrange this for the corresponding additional charge of one night. The regular check-in time starts around 14:00. Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR) is located in Liberia, Guanacaste in close proximity to the Northern Coast.

Important: The maximum waiting time is 2 hours after the scheduled arrival time. Drivers keep an eye on the arrival time and you will be picked up at the airport even in the event of delays, provided that this is compatible with the driver's subsequent transfers. In the case of slight delays, there may be an additional cost for exceeding the 2-hour waiting time, which must be paid directly to the driver. If the flight is diverted or the flight is delayed over an hour after the scheduled arrival time, the driver may not be able to wait, and a new transfer must be paid for.

Journey into the Mystical Cloud Forest!

Travel time approx. 2.40 hours

Today, your journey takes you to the highlands of the Puntarenas province. An adventurous curvy road (via Guacimal village) marks the final stretch of your trip into the world-famous Monteverde Cloud Forest. At altitudes ranging from 900 to 1,680 meters, misty clouds drift through the treetops, enveloping the magical foggy forest in a mystical atmosphere. Exotic flowers, giant ferns, bromeliads, mosses, and lichens are part of this “evergreen forest”. In this unique environment, you will find countless plant species to explore, including nearly a thousand orchid varieties in all shapes and colors.  Birdwatchers will be captivated by the dazzling hummingbirds and the elusive Quetzal, the sacred bird of the region.

Monteverde and Santa Elena, were founded by American Quakers who left the United States to avoid being drafted into the Vietnam War.  They established at the peaceful Monteverde, which has become one of the most important nature lovers destinations. Santa Elena is the main village, and offers all the services you may need, such as supermarkets, restaurants, bars, shops, combined with wooden mountain beautiful lodges and hotels. 

From Monteverde and Santa Elena, you can easily access several Cloud Forest Reserves to discover the amazing nature of this ecosystem. For those seeking a bit more adventure, ziplining across the treetops like Superman is an exhilarating option, or you can take a more relaxed stroll across the hanging bridges that wind through the canopy.

Important: Due to the elevation and humidity, temperatures can drop at night, so be sure to pack long pants and a jacket to stay comfortable.

Eye-to-Eye with the Inhabitants of the Cloud Forest!

Included Activity

Today, you will embark on a fascinating tour across the hanging bridges of Monteverde. During this experience at Selvatura Park, you’ll discover the cloud forest from a completely new perspective.

As you move through the treetops, you may spot birds and other forest inhabitants, perhaps even the resplendent Quetzal, and learn intriguing details about the cloud forest ecosystem. This self-guided hike takes you along a 3-kilometer circular trail featuring eight hanging bridges suspended at heights ranging from 12 to 60 meters and lengths between 50 and 180 meters.

• Park Entry: From 7:30 AM, last entry at 3:00 PM (for self-arrivals).
• Duration: Approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
• Transportation: Self-arrival
• Shuttle Option: If using the included shuttle, entry times are fixed at 8:30 AM, 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 2:30 PM. The transfer will pick you up approximately 30 minutes before the scheduled time at your hotel.

From Monteverde to Arenal - Lake crossing with panoramic views!

Travel time approx. 2.30 hours

This is the most beautiful way to travel from Monteverde to Arenal!  A vehicle will take you on a 1.45 land transfer from Monteverde to Río Chiquito, where the boat will be ready to take you on a 45 minute sightseeing ride crossing the Arenal Lake. Once you get to the other side of the lake, another ground transfer will be there to take you to your hotel.  

Important: This is a collective transfer sharing with other clients.  

Heading to La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano!

The majestic Arenal Volcano is already waiting for you. You can see its impressive, cone-shaped form from far away, while you are getting closer. However, the giant often hides behind clouds, so you are lucky if you get to see it in its full beauty!
Around the volcano, there are many natural sights to discover: waterfalls, old lava flows, huge trees, and hot springs heated by volcanic veins.

How about a hike at the foot of the volcano, followed by pure relaxation in one of the thermal springs? There are activities for all ages: from peaceful quiet to exciting adventure, there is something for everyone.

Until 2010, the volcano was regularly active, with frequent smoke and glowing rocks. This active phase began with a major eruption in 1968, and continued with smaller eruptions until 2010. Since then, Arenal Volcano has been in a resting phase with very low activity – a normal process for active volcanoes.
The volcano and the town of La Fortuna are popular stops for many tourists, offering plenty of hotels, restaurants, shops, and a wide range of activities.

Hike at the foot of the sleeping giant!

Today you set off on a 2-hour hike at the foot of the slumbering giant. Even though the volcano is only active in phases, there is plenty to see and learn on this tour. Relics of the last eruption, lava fields and, of course, lots of nature and fauna await you on the hike. The English-speaking guide will introduce you to the history.

Journey to the North Pacific to Playa Flamingo!

Travel time 4.5 hours approx. 

Today, your journey takes you to the beautiful beach of Playa Flamingo, about 30 minutes north of Tamarindo. Playa Flamingo is known for its breathtaking sunsets and pristine natural beauty. The wonderful Flamingo beach is famous for its fine white sand and calm waters. A marina is also nearby, perfect for a walk.

This beautiful beach is 1.6 km long and offers a perfect place to relax and enjoy yourself. You can walk along the beach, take the sun, swim or do any of the numerous activities offered there, including snorkeling, diving, sailing, and deep-sea fishing. You can explore other nearby beautiful beaches and fishermen villages such as Potrero, Brasilito, and Las Catalinas.

Catamaran Sailing Adventure!

Begin your afternoon with a luxurious catamaran experience, setting sail from the picturesque Flamingo Marina. Relax and unwind as we cruise along the stunning Pacific coastline of Costa Rica. During the journey, enjoy drinks from the open bar. The professional crew will make you feel comfortable and welcome while enjoying drinks and snacks onboard. At the halfway point, the catamaran will anchor, giving you the opportunity to explore the vibrant underwater world of Costa Rica. Join our guide for a snorkeling adventure, where you may spot colorful tropical fish and other marine life.

As the day winds down, let the warm Papagayo winds gently carry the catamaran back to the marina. Relax on deck and take in the spectacular colors of the Costa Rican sunset,  a magical ending to your day on the water.

Today, it’s time to say goodbye to the tropical paradise of Costa Rica. A transfer service will pick you up from your hotel based on your flight time and take you to the airport. With wonderful memories of your journey in your luggage, you’ll board your flight home.
